Canadian Rockies & Calgary Stampede

Day 1, Friday 6 July
AUSTRALIA – VANCOUVER
Make your way to the airport to the international airport for your flight to Vancouver by Los Angeles. Upon arrival you will be met at the airport and transferred to your centrally located hotel for check in. This afternoon and evening will be leisure.

Day 2, Saturday 7 July
VANCOUVER
Today enjoy a half day sightseeing tour of Vancouver, and discover why it was named one of the most liveable cities in the world. Situated between the Pacific Ocean and snow-capped mountains, this elegant city is sure to delight every visitor. Some sights on your tour may include Granville Island, Gastown and Stanley Park. The remainder of your day is at leisure.

Day 3, Sunday 8 July
VANCOUVER
Today is a day at leisure in this dynamic and multicultural city surrounded by spectacular natural attractions. You may spend the day exploring the city at your own pace, or join an optional tour to Victoria and Butchart Gardens Day Tour to visit this national historical site on Vancouver Island featuring 55 acres of amazing floral display.

Day 4, Monday 9 July
VANCOUVER – KAMLOOPS
This morning depart Vancouver and travel east through pastoral farmland and lush valleys as you follow the Fraser River. Stop for lunch at Hell’s Gate to witness the power of water churning through the gorge. Then on  through the small gold rush town of Spences Bridge before arriving at Kamloops.

Day 5, Tuesday 10 July
KAMLOOPS – BANFF
Continue your journey, passing through rolling hills and ranch lands to Okanagan Lake Country before ascending through a series of scenic valleys and rugged peaks into the Rocky Mountains. Stop for lunch in the alpine town of Revelstoke before continuing through the untouched wilderness of Roger’s Pass and enjoying brief stops to take in the scenery.

Day 6, Wednesday 11 July
BANFF
This morning embark on a sightseeing tour of Banff National Park and discover some of the landmark sights including The Hoodoos, Bow Falls and Two Jack Lake. Then on to Lake Louise – admire the picturesque Lake where you will see the reflection of the Victoria Glacier onto the turquoise blue waters of the Lake- symbolic of the quintessentially Canadian mountain scene. Return to Banff with the evening at leisure.

Day 7, Thursday 12 July
BANFF
Today is at leisure. There are lots of ways to explore picturesque Banff and surrounding area ranging from helicopter tours to hiking, boat or kayak tours-the choice is endless. For those wishing to make the most of their day we suggest exploring foothills of the mighty Canadian Rocky Mountains on horseback.

Day 8, Friday 13 July
BANFF – CALGARY
Continue on to Calgary along the Rundle Range and view the Three Sisters mountain peaks en-route. Located at the foothills of the Canadian Rockies, Calgary has been celebrating this epic, annual event for over a century – the Calgary Stampede, the ‘Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth’, where ordinary people become cowboys and cowboys become heroes.

Day 9, Saturday 14 July

Immerse yourself in stampede fever today as everyone forgets their daily routines during Stampede time and dress up in western attire for the big celebration. Featured events may include the famous chuckwagon races that will provide ample thrills, and fantastic stage shows. Live music is the heart & soul of Calgary Stampede with country legends to rock royalty appearing at various venues.

Day 10, Sunday 15 July
CALGARY  | Stampede horsehead-red
Return to Stampede Park for the final day of exciting rodeo action. Enjoy the excitement of the stampede with various entertainment options including stage shows, concerts, exhibitions and agricultural competitions. This evening, attend the grand finale of the Stampede crowned by a fireworks spectacular that bids the event farewell until next year.

Day 11, Monday 16 July
CALGARY – LOS ANGELES – AUSTRALIA
This morning is at leisure before being transferred to the airport to commence your homeward bound flight via Los Angeles. Alternatively you have the option to extend your travels with the help of one of Ambassador Travel’s experienced consultants.
