I recall listening to the Tex Morton tune ‘The Goondiwindi Grey’ many years ago. In that song he sang ‘We cheered him from the grandstand & we cheered him from the flat ’
What a special horse Gunsynd was during the early 70’s, he won a Cox Plate, four feature mile races and was so brave in Piping Lane’s Melbourne Cup with the grandstand on his back.
All these years later and Gunsynd remains a household name in the border town of Goondiwindi.
On this tour we will no doubt hear some of the great yarns regarding their local hero, we will visit the famous memorial statue in Apex Park, experience grass roots racing and soak up that warm country hospitality and just enjoy the community spirit & civic pride that exists in towns like Goondiwindi.
I do hope you can join me on this country adventure
